Established in 1995 and chaired by former Congressman Don Ritter, the Afghanistan - America Foundation is a Capitol Hill-based non-profit, non-partisan organization devoted to facilitating dialogue and education on nation-building and democratization in Afghanistan, South and Central Asia.

The Afghanistan - America Foundation's Washington Office serves as a research and information center as well as a point of liaison to U.S. policymakers and others concerned about Afghanistan and the region. In addition, the Foundation is currently in the process of releasing a White Paper on U.S. Policy Toward Afghanistan to serve as a guide for policymakers on this critical issue.
