The Afghanistan - America Foundation is seeking highly motivated
college and graduate students for full- or part-time internships.
Established in 1995 and chaired by former Congressman Don Ritter,
the Afghanistan - America Foundation is a Capitol Hill-based non-profit, non-partisan
organization devoted to facilitating dialogue and education on nation-building
and democratization in Afghanistan, South and Central Asia.
The Afghanistan - America Foundation's Washington Office serves as
a research and information center as well as a point of liaison
to U.S. policymakers and others concerned about Afghanistan and
the region. In addition, the Foundation is currently in the process
of releasing a White Paper on U.S. Policy Toward Afghanistan
to serve as a guide for policymakers on this critical issue.
In the work place, interns will work with staff members who have
extensive knowledge in foreign policy and the non-governmental sector.
The internship provides students interested in international careers
with unique opportunity to gain direct experience in one of the
post-Cold War era's most protracted and destabilizing conflicts.
Interns
are expected to conduct research and program development, demonstrate
solid writing and oral skills, and attend a plethora of government
hearings, briefings, press conferences and other public forums.
Technical Interns are expected to update and edit the Foundation's
website at http://www.afghanistanfoundation.org,
provide minor troubleshooting, demonstrate solid writing and oral
skills, conduct online research, data entry and basice office duties.
Knoweldge of HTML a must and familiarity with NT Servers preferred
but not required.
